Microneedling - What to expect

Our microneedling treatment includes an intake followed by body acupuncture while the facial numbing cream sets in. Once the face is numb, it is cleansed and a hyaluronic serum comprised of Chinese herbal extracts is applied to the skin. The microneedling pen traverses across the face with special attention to areas of focus. Afterwards, a cooling hyaluronic aloe mask is applied to the face while you relax into yourself.

FAQ
What is Microneedling and Nanoneedling?
Microneedling is a medical grade cosmetic treatment that helps to rejuvenate skin by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin as well as the absorption of hydrating serums combined with herbs. It is performed with an oscillating pen mounted with twelve very small, fine, and sterile-single use needles that rhythmically pierce the dermal layer of skin. This helps stimulate the body's natural healing response and triggers more collagen and elastin to be produced.
Nanoneedling is similar to microneedling, however, it uses a pen tip that contains 81 ultra fine sterile-single use silicon needles that pierce only the outermost epidermal layer of skin. This makes it particularly useful over sensitive areas, like the skin around the eyes and the lips.
What is It Used For?
Micro and nanoneedling can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, scars, stretchmarks and age spots. The integration of Chinese herbs in to our serums can further help address puffiness, redness, dark circles and overall brighten the skin. It can also be used for hairloss and thinning.
What Happens During Treatment?
After a brief intake a numbing agent (lidocaine) will be applied to the skin. While the numbing agent takes effect acupuncture needles will be placed around the body to help address underlying causes. Next, a serum made of Chinese herbs and hyaluronic acid (a moisturizing agent) will be massaged in to the face for the microneedling pen to glide over and gently push in to the skin. The Chinese herbs incorporated in to the serum is determined case by case in order to best address your specific needs. An aloe mask will be placed over the face to sooth the skin after the microneedling and extra serum will be sent home with the patient for after-care.

What to Expect After Treatment?
After the procedure the skin will have a red appearance and may feel tight and sensitive. After 24 hours the skin generally has returned to its typical appearance. To minimize the body's natural inflammatory response, its advised to avoid processed foods, sugars, alcohol, smoking and caffeine 2 days prior to treatment.
For 24 hours after treatment do not apply other skin care products, lotion, soap or make up. Apply only the hyaluronic acid serum provided to you by your practitioner. For 48 hours after treatment avoid alcohol, smoking and exercise.

How Many Sessions Do I Need?
For best results, typically 3-6 treatments are recommended. Treatments should be spaced one month apart in order to allow the skin to regenerate and heal.
